Mission: S1E3: Visit to Starbase 375
Location: Captain's Ready Room, Deck 1, USS Crazy Horse
Timeline: Day 1 at 2200

The Elisha Gray, A Tesla Class maintenance shuttle craft, made a picture perfect landing in the hanger deck of the USS Crazy Horse. Not a single problem with the landing at all. It looked like your typical work shuttle. it was older. It looked like it had seen it's fair share of overhauls. And it could REALLY use a bath. All in all, the Gray needed a little bit of love. It sat there waiting for her crew to depart...for what felt like forever. The Chief in the tower was getting antsy and decided to go and see what was taking so long. He had to tell the Gray's crew to report in to the Captain without delay.

The Chief walked up to the shuttle, and wondered what was taking so long. Just then, there was a hiss. It was the sound of the Elisha Gray's cabin depressurizing. the sound of gasses mixing from the Gray and the Crazy Horse. "Finally." Thought the Chief as the rear hatch was about to open. The Chief approached the back of the shuttle. As the rear ramp hatch came down, the Chief noticed an unusual odor coming from inside the Elisha Gray. It was a stale smell. kind of musty. The smell of parties of days gone by. The smell of old Romulan ale and stale cigars. The Chief heard laughing coming from inside. And when the ramp was fully down, the crew of the Elisha Gray stepped out of the shuttle. The Chief walked up to the highest ranking officer. The chief could not help but to notice that he smelled like a brewery. They ALL did.

"Sir, you must be Lt Cash?" The Chief said in confusion.

"I am" Said Cash. But I doubt if your the Captain." Cash said laughing. "Ok, time to get serious. Grrrrrreettings and Salutations good sir. We are but yon wearing travelers seeking a bed and some sup." Cash said taking a bow.

"Man, you gonna get us thrown in the brig." Said Pops.

"You are right." Cash cleared his throat. and with that, turned from town drunk to total professional on the turn of a dime. "Hi Chief, We are the Engineering team. I DO believe we have orders to report in immediately?"

"Yes sir, Commander D'Anvers is expecting you in his ready room as we speak." Said the Chief. "I can have a security detail escort you IF you don't know the way." The Chief tapped his com badge =/\= Shuttle bay to security =/\=

Cash cut in. "That won't be necessary Chief. I'm sure the 6 of us can find the bridge. The ready room IS next to the bridge on this ship?" He asked.

"Yes Sir. Deck 1" He said.

Then the 6 engineers walked out of the shuttle bay.

=/\= Security to shuttle bay, go ahead. =/\= cane a voice over the com.

=/\= Security, we have 6 people reporting in to the Commander on the Bridge. Make sure they get there. Hanger bay out. =/\=

Then the Chief tapped his com badge again. =/\= Hanger bay to Commander D'Anvers, Sir, they are on their way. And you were right. It was.....interesting. =/\=

The 6 engineers walked down the corridors of the Crazy Horse. They walked with a relaxed pace. Not staggering. just relaxed. Every now and then, they would catch a crewman's eye. they all seem to have a dopey grin. Like they knew a secret. and for all intense and pompous, they kinda did. But, they were not talking. Just then, they found the turbo lift. They all entered, and the doors closed behind them.

"Bridge" Said Cash. Then the doors closed behind them. "So, Pig Boy, what do you think now?" Asked Cash

"Pig boy turned to Cash. I STILL think it's a...." Just then, the doors opened. "Hunk of junk."

The 6 came out of the turbo lift and noticed every eye on the bridge on them. Cash knew that Pig Boy's voice was loud and carried at the best of times. This, was NOT one of those times. Cash looked over at the closest bridge station. It was manned by a crewman.

"Ready room?" He asked.

The crewman pointed to a door just off of the bridge. Cash nodded in acknowledgment. They all walked up, and Cash rang the chime on the door.

"Enter," Cian said. He was seated at his desk, the ever present cup of tea near to his hand, as he dealt with ship's business and readied for the small bit of shore leave he had promised to himself and his wife.

The door to the ready room opens. And in saunters 6 people. All of them looking slightly nervous and smelling of parties of days gone by. One of the gaggle came to the front of the group and spoke. “Hey.” He said with a smile. “Guess we are your Pro’s from Dover.....Sir.” He said with a smile. Like the sir was almost an afterthought.

The smell wafted across his desk. Not unfamiliar because he'd been on the command track for some time and yet, a disappointment every time he encountered it. He spared no thought for the Admiral who had humbled himself to give this lot a chance. Instead, he fixed the group with an unreadable look as he raised an index finger, indicating that they should wait. "Security," he said. "To my Ready Room on the double."

[Security]

"On our way." Tahlin, dropping a PADD in her haste, came out of her office all business. "Mendyar, Lieutenant, Mac'Kensey, with me."

"Aye Sir." The Benzite and human grabbed sidearms and followed Tahlin.

Lieutenant M'Raul Kothar gave a swift nod. "Aye," he said and was ready to follow the others. This was the sort of call then meant pick that tail up and move. He was not sure what to expect, but whatever it was he would tackle it head on and assist.

[Captain's Ready Room]

"I can smell the alcohol on you even from this distance," he said quietly. He did not raise his voice. Whatever he felt, he kept contained behind the walls he'd built from the sheer necessity of survival.

5 out of the 6 people around the Commander's desk started to talk at one. All getting defensive for a brief second. Until their leader turned to look at them all. And without a sound silenced them. He stood with his back to the commander for a second before turning back. Then, facing the Commander the leader said, "Remember our most powerful right. We have the right..." And then the rest of the group said as one, "To remain SILENT." Then, he approached the Commander's desk with an attention posture that would make any first year cadet jealous

"Lt JG Xander Cash reporting in as ordered SIR." Then, Cash paused. "This is MY team sir. I am their leader. They were following MY lead. I should bear the brunt of any punishment Sir. I just hope the Commander takes into account that this team has been in an assignment where things like discipline could be found ONLY in a dictionary bank. We know our stuff Sir. we just need to learn to become Star Fleet material again Sir."

"Step back," Cian said quietly. "Join the others. You are incorrect. This is not your team, its mine. You all belong to me now. Individually. And you will answer for your actions ... individually." Cian sat down once more, his hands folded in his lap, as he looked at each one in turn. "You found yourself on your last assignment because of your individual actions and I do take that into consideration. Just as every choice you make ... individually ... while you are on my ship? Those are also your individual responsibility. The fact that you led them to report while intoxicated says nothing good about your leadership nor about their character."

Every one of the 6 standing in front of Cian just stared at him. not making a sound waiting for what was destined to come.

The door opened, allowing Tahlin and her team to enter. "Sir," said the Bajoran concernedly, "You called for Security?"

"You have a chance here," Cian said quietly. "But its up to all of you to figure out whether you want that chance or not. I'm giving you the night to think about that."

"I did," Cian said to the security team. "Escort these ... individuals ... to the brig where they will share a cell tonight. Once they are secured, return here for further instructions."

"Aye Sir... You six, with us... Will you come quietly?" The Bajoran was not in a conciliatory mood--she could definitely smell the alcohol on them. What had happened to this sorry lot?

The whiskers of M'Raul twitched and he let out a lowly growl. "These idiots are highly intoxicated" he said rather bluntly. "They reek of inferior booze."

"Later, Lieutenant... You six, with us." Tahlin snapped her fingers in their faces, trying to get them to move.

(tag team, M'Raul?)

Cash and the rest of the 6 silently walked out of the Commander's Ready Room under escort. The only one who even looked up was Cash. He glanced at Cian and gave him a look. A look that said......I don't know how. I don't know when. But, I will make you proud of us. And with that, under guard, they left.

[Ready Room, Twenty Minutes Later]

Tahlin signaled Commander D'Anvers from the bridge, alone this time. She'd left the six engineers in the brig, in one cell, under the guard of Rickmann and Mendyar, and had M'Raul looking up their records.

"Enter," Cian said. He looked up from a report on the uptick in Orion activity and nodded as his Chief of Security entered. "All taken care of, Lieutenant?"

Tahlin entered. "Sir, prisoners secured... You asked for me to come back for further instructions?"

"I want you to take a team down to the shuttle bay and go over that maintenance shuttle," Cian said. "Contraband and current condition would be the priorities. Condition as in ... is it clean and orderly."

"Yes, Sir. Do you want someone from Engineering on it, or just Security? I assume I ought to report anything we find to you directly?"

"For now," Cian said, "just your security team and yes, you assume correctly. Anything you find, report back to me directly with a copy of the entire report to Commander Othran. Is that clear?"

"Crystal clear, Sir. I'll see to it personally... Am I dismissed?"

"You are dismissed," Cian said.
