Mission: S1E1: Out of the Barn
Location: USS Crazy Horse, Sickbay
Timeline: Day 3 at 0830

Marcus looked at the PADD as he walked down the bustling hallway toward Sickbay. He still needed to finish setting up his own office and meet with the Captain. However, for now it was his onboarding physical. As he entered Sickbay he saw it was more than slightly busy and he waited his turn as the young Ensign finished with the Bajoran ahead of him and motioned him forward.

"Lt Aurilieus reporting for my Physical." He stated matter of factly as he handed the attractive Ensign the PADD containing his current records and medical history, The nano-servos in his prosthetic made soft whines and whirs as she took the PADD, smiled, and began to access the records. He knitted his fingers together and looked around waiting patiently and thinking about several things that he would rather be doing then this.

Neteri picked up her mini-PADD and practically skipped all the way to sickbay. Happy to be on the Crazy Horse, she rounded the corner and walked into sickbay. Seeing someone there she stopped short, "Oh, excuse me, um is the doctor here? I am supposed to get my physical," she said.

"Where all here for that, Ensign." answered Marcus. "I am sure she will be along shortly. Or, if not, one of her capable and professional assistants will suffice. He added the last as he watched the Ensign going over hier records smile slightly. "You have been in Starfleet long enough to know that hurry up and wait is as standard a practice as running the Kobayashi Maru scenario in the Academy." Seeing the Ensign's hands were empty he leaned in slightly. "Probably a good idea for you to personally maintain a copy of your medical records in teh future. Never know when the system makes you get another quartet of shots because they didn't record your last dose for Denebian Measles. Just some advice." He added, smiling.

Smiling, she produced her mini-PADD, "I never leave my medical records at home," she said happily. "I have had my phaser recertification go the way of a computer glitch. Learned to keep copies of my important files. Just a habit that has come in handy," Neteri said looking at the Lieutenant.

Marcus nodded in response, mentally checking off blocks of his estimation of the Ensign. "Nice." he added as he glanced back at the ensign with his own records. he flexed his prosthetic and took a deep breath trying to calm himself and his participation in this, in his opinion, colossal waste of time.

Bryanna walked through from the main sickbay area, to see a slight queue forming. "Ok, both here for physicals?" She asked, giving a toothy smile full of white teeth.

"Yes Doctor, both of us are. How do you want us to proceed?" Neteri said.

Bryanna nodded. "Well, we can get you both started at the same time, if you'd both like to hop up onto a biobed, and we'll get the scan rolling." She said with a smile.

Marcus was about to answer when the Ensign chime in. He wondered to himself if he was ever that enthusiastic. As he moved to an empty bed he hesitated and turned to Bryanna, "Doc, my arm sometimes interferes with the scans. It all in my records, though." he added before hopping up onto the biobed and stretching out.

"No problem, we'll do the scan anyway, just for the records. Any problems I should know about medically speaking?" She asked, starting up the scan.

"No. Other than the obvious." Added Marcus holding up his prosthetic. "I believe that everything should be to standard."

Bryanna nodded, looking through the results. "Well, everything looks to be normal." She said with a smile.

"As it should be, Doctor" Grinned Marcus, wiggling his fingers "I may have to hit engineering for a tune-up also."

Bryanna smiled. "Well, I have nothing else I need from you Lieutenant, so feel free to head to engineering. I'm sure i'll see you around." She answered.

Marcus smiled in spite of himself. The Doctor had a very infectious bedside manner. "Thank you, Doctor. Please feel free to let me know if I can return the favor." With that he hopped off the bed and walked out of sickbay.

Neteri hopped onto the biobed and patiently waited her turn, mini PADD in hand for the doctor.

Bryanna moved over to Neteri. "Right, Ensign. Anything I should know about you? Any illnesses, injuries, unusual pains?" She asked, starting to scan.

Handing Bryanna the mini-PADD, "Nothing other than I have problems falling asleep and my shoulder stiffening up, not yet", Neteri said.

Bryanna nodded. "I'm sure we can find you something to help with that." She said, smiling. "Have you tried anything for your sleep so far?" She asked.

"Yes I have. Tried chamomile tea, valerian root tea, even melatonin. Also tried meditation, no good", Neteri said sadly.

Bryanna nodded again. "Ok, well i'm sure we can have a look at some kind of sleeping aid. Are you allergic to anything?" She asked.

"Nothing that I know of at this time", Neteri said.

Bryanna walked over to the medicine cabinet, taking out a small box. "Take one of these each night, should help you to sleep." She said, walking back over. "Apart from that everything looks good, so feel free to head off whenever you're ready." She smiled.

"Thank you Dr. Bought", Neteri said taking the medicine and headed to security.

Counselor Toran ran into sickbay and was, unfortunately, winded from the experience. His last meeting had run late, but he didn’t want to keep Dr. Voight — ostensibly his direct superior Officer, depending on how the Captain organized these things — waiting.

Out of breath and wondering if his return to active duty wasn’t a mistake after all, he leaned against a wall and looked around for the CMO.

Bryanna heard the sounds of the door opening and someone dashing in, and walked out to see who it was. Upon walking out she saw someone leaning against the wall, having some trouble breathing, presumably after running in. "Ok, deep breaths." She said. "In for a count of five, out for a count of three." She advised, trying to slow the breathing down.

Ilos followed her instructions. In over five seconds, out over three. In five, out three. After a few moments, he was better. “Sorry. I thought I’d be fit enough not to be winding myself so easily.”

"Not a problem. Lieutenant Junior Grade Bryanna Voight, Chief Medical Officer. And you are?" She asked with a smile.

"Lieutenant Junior Grade Toran Ilos," he replied, extending his hand towards the CMO. "Chief Counselor. I'm here for my arrival physical. Not that I need it. Perfect specimen, I am. Clearly." He couldn't help but smirk.

Bryanna chuckled lightly. "Running isn't everyone's thing counsellor, but come on over to the biobed and we can get the ball rolling." She answered, leading the way over.

Ilos followed happily and pulled himself onto the biobed to sit down. "Have you been on board for long?" he asked.

Bryanna laughed. "No, only been here a few days myself. I assume the same can be said for you." She answered, starting up the scan.

"More or less," said Ilos. "I've been here just long enough to drop my bags off, see my office, and check in with Captain Ysayne." He sat still as the doctor scanned him.

"I'm pretty much the same." She answered, looking at the scan results. "Well, everything looks to be normal for you, apart from a slightly elevated heart rate, but that's to be expected after your grand entrance." She said with a wink.

“I’ll try to keep my entrances a bit less dramatic in the future,” he said with a chuckle. “Oh, you should know, I’m a trained and qualified medic. In a crisis, unless the Captain tells me otherwise, please put me to work.”

Bryanna nodded. "Good, that's always a good thing. To what level are you qualified?" She asked.

“Medium First Aid,” Ilos explained. “Same training as security personnel in the field. I updated my certifications before coming on board.”

Bryanna smiled. "I'll keep you in mind." She said. "So, unless there's anything else, you are free to escape, although i'd advise against running out again." She said with a wink.

Ilos laughed. “Good advice, Doctor. Until next time, then.”

The AeroWing Runabout had already docked with the Crazy Horse and Romal left the docking bay with his adopted daughter, Mizi, hand in hand. Having studied the layout of the new Luna Class vessel, he already knew where everything was located. Taking out his PADD, he looked at his orders telling him where to report to first and noticed that his and Mizi's physicals were at the top of the list.

Romal knelt down to his daughter, since she was barely four feet and gently spoke to her. "I hope you don't mind it, Mizi, but we have to visit a doctor first."

"Do we have to? I don't like doctors. They smell funny." Mizi protested, not liking the idea in the least.

"Her name is Doctor Voight and we don't know what she's like. Give her a chance. I'll be with you." Romal promised, trying to sound reasonable.

"Well. . .okay." Mizi slowly replied.

After a ride on a turbo lift and down a few corridors, Romal and Mizi walked into Sickbay. They looked around and spotted a small, young looking red haired woman who was finishing up with another crew member. Noticing how young she looked, Romal wasn't sure if she was the doctor ordered to give their physical.

After the crew member left, Romal and Mizi approached her. "Excuse me, ah". . .then he noticed the Lieutenant pips on her uniform. "You must be Doctor Voight. We're here for our physicals, I'm Ensign Romal Seshel and this is my daughter, Mizi." Romal said, introducing him and Mizi, then handing the doctor the PADD with his orders. Mizi was nervous and hid behind Romal's legs as he talked, waiting to see what the doctor would do next.

Bryanna smiled brightly. "Ensign, lovely to meet you, if you'd like to take a seat on the biobed here." She said with a smile, before crouching down to talk to Mizi. She continued to smile. "Hi Mizi, I'm Doctor Voight, just come onboard?" She asked, making sure she stayed on the young girls level, to make her feel more comfortable. "What we need to do, is give your Daddy a quick scan, make sure nothings wrong, and then we'll do the same with you. How does that sound?" She asked.

Mizi smiled shyly at the doctor and looked up at her father. "I'm don't know - I suppose I could."

"We do it together then, right Mizi?" Romal replied, feeling some pride of his daughter's courage.

"Yup!" Mizi simply replied.

Romal then took a seat on the biobed and spoke to Doctor Voight. "Mizi and I are different species, Doctor, but nonetheless, she's still my little girl." he said, trying to clear the air of any misunderstandings.

"I want to go first!" Mizi called out, noticing how her daddy felt, her distrust of the doctor had now vanished.

Bryanna smiled. "If you wanna go first, you can go first." She said. "Hop on up and we can get started!" She added.

Mizi then pushed her chair next to the biobed and climbed on top, sitting next to Romal. The little girl looked up at Bryanna, and giggled. "Heheheheheh!!! Show me your funny lights, Doctor Voight." she said, waiting for Bryanna to take out her scanner.

"She certainly has a sense of humor, doesn't she doctor? We better watch ourselves, it may be contagious." Romal joked, while watching Mizi's antics.

Bryanna nodded, laughing. "She certainly does Ensign." She smiled. "Right, let's get this scan starting then!" She pulled out a tricorder from her belt pouch, and started to scan it over the young girl.

"Well, everything looks good." She smiled, turning to Romal. "Right, you next then Ensign. Anything you want to tell me? Issues etc?" She asked.

"Nothing much, really. Just a few burns and scratches, here and there, mostly on my fingers, from working with circuitry and high energy consoles. Of course, that's an engineer's lot in life. That and performing miracles from broken ships. Right, Mizi?" Romal asked, with a wide grin.

Mizi then stood up on the biobed and proudly proclaimed, "My daddy is the best engineer ever! He even fixed Cassandra!" she then held up a rag doll, which looked worn, but clean. The doll seemed very important to her.

Romal smiled broadly, "All it took was a needle, some thread and replicated eyes. . .but I'm sure you'd like to get on with the physical. I'm an El-Aurian, by the way, just so you know."

Bryanna nodded, before starting the scans. "Well, if I ever need an extra pair of hands for surgery i'll let you know." She said, winking as the scan continued.

"If you have any rag dolls in need of repair, my skills as a surgeon are all yours!" Romal joked, then asked her more seriously, "So, do I get a clean bill of health, doctor?"

Bryanna nodded. "Yes Lieutenant. I'm happy to say that both yourself and your daughter have clean bills of health." She smiled.

"Thank you, doctor. It's good to know we're healthy and I hope we stay that way. If there are no further tests, we still have to settle into our assigned quarters." Romal said, smiling as he and Mizi turned to leave.

"I hope you settle in well Ensign, and if either of you need anything feel free to shout." She called to the two as they left. She sighed to herself, glad that all of the physicals were now over and done with.
