ON:
You ever have one of those days where you just don't wanna? It felt like the entire Engineering Department on the USS Crazy Horse just did not wanna. And, as always something else goes wrong. This particular time, there was a malfunction with the power systems somewhere on deck 2. Now, you just might ask...Where exactly? And, you can bet your sweet gold pressed latinum that someone COULD tell you. It's not a question of COULD in this case. More a question of WOULD. When the problem of the power systems having a slight Hiccup on Deck 2 came to the attention of the Engineering shift supervisor, She put her 2 best people on it. That is, by 2 best people you mean 2 staff she almost caught red handed sleeping in a maintenance conduit. Since she could prove nothing, she gave the 2 crewmen this assignment and let them find the exact problem themselves. Deck 2 can be a pretty big place to find small problems like this. Game point....Supervisor.
Crewmen Gravas and Kar'eem had been on their hands and knees for most of the day walking the main corridor of Deck 2 trying to find something small, very small. This is the kind of small that could become big in very short order. And that would NOT be good. The had to search just about every power circuit on the USS Crazy Horse. Well, on Deck 2 anyways. But it might as well be the entire ship. They had chosen to do the corridor first. And look into every individual room IF need be. Gravas took one end of the corridor Kar'eem took the other. Their plan was to meet in the middle. After several hours of manual searching for this problem, they finally met in the middle. And, surprise surprise, they problem was in one of the rooms. So, They decided to stick together and do the rooms as a team. They rang the bell of the first room in front of them. It said on the door Lt jg Syndel.
Finally have some time to herself Larissa lay on her sofa reading from a Padd, she looked towards the door when the chime went off then slowly got up to answer it. The door opened to reveal a rather tall human and a cute looking Andorian woman.
"Haylow. Wee area lookink for prroblim wit da powewr." Said the man.
"It's okay Latka." Said the Andorian. "Hi. We are searching for a small problem with the power system on this deck. Mind if we have a quick look see?" She asked more eloquently then her colleague.
Larissa eyes the two crewmen slightly, if there was a power related problem in her quarters she hadn't noticed it, if she had she'd have found it and reported it by now. "Go ahead Crewmen." She stepped out of the doorway to let them in.
"Thanks." Said the Andorian as they both walked in and began to scan the quarters.
Returning to her sofa and her Padd Larissa left the crewmen to it for a few minutes before curiosity got the better of her. "What is the problem you're looking for?"
"Well, It's a power anomaly. One of those things on the main power system that is small now. But could turn huge in no time at all. And probably will at the most inconvenient time it can. Thank you Murphy." The Andorian said.
"So, you just arrive on board Lt?" The Andorian asked as the two worked.
"Only just in time," Larissa replied. "Nearly didn't make it."
"Wow, could have been a long walk for you, hu?" Said Telev.
"I donut tink dat eet ees hera" Said Latka.
"You may be right Latka. But we just started. We need to be sure." Said Telev. "So, how are you liking it here so far?"
"I've not really had time to come to a decision about that," Larissa replied "haven't even had much time to have a walk around the ship. Captain wanted me straight on the bridge ready for leaving."
"I hear ya Lt. Our first 24 hours here were.....Interesting to say the least as well." Said Telev.
Larissa smiled. "The first 24 hours are usually always interesting, meeting your new crew and exploring what will be your home for the foreseeable future."
"Yeah, there is that. Then there is OUR first 24 hours aboard." She said pointing to her and her colleague.
'Fine I'll bite' Larissa thought. "What happened?"
"We were part of a team that spent our first 24 hours on ship in the brig." She said. "Yeah, here is a tip. Don't report in while drunk."
"That's not exactly the best thing you could have done Crewman." Larissa remarked. "Though I did show up two weeks late to my first ever starship assignment, luckily the ship was still there."
"Were you marked as AWOL?" Asked Telev?
"Not quite, my transport hit an ion storm and lost warp engines and communications. Took us a several days to get close enough to any ship to contact them and get help. The contacted my ship and let them know I would be late in arriving." She replied.
"Sounds like a hell of a ride." Telev said.
"Wound up getting towed after we couldn't fix the warp engines. Still took a while but I got there eventually. The ship was still on shoreleave when I got there luckily."
"Hi done tink hits hare" Said Latka.
"You may be right." Said Telev. "Well, we have lots of work to do Ma'am. It was nice meeting you."
Larissa smiled and returned to her sofa. "I hope you're able to find the problem soon."
The 2 engineers gathered their equipment and then left the quarters.
