Sweeping the Blackwell

Posted on 04/09/2020 @ 12:50pm by Captain Cian D'Anvers & Ensign Neteri Blackfeather

Mission: S1E2: The Plomeek Soup Conundrum
Location: Blackwell
Timeline: Day 5 at 1320

Ensign Netiri Blackfeather was tasked with sweeping the ship looking for people crew and prisoners. She decided to take PO3 Rickman to cover her back.

"Mr. Rickman your with me". Neteri said.

"Good then lets get it done", Todd replied.

Todd thought that this was turning onto a bug hunt, but safety was of paramount importance. The lights were kind of dim and most of the primary systems were down. This caused lots of shadows to play along the walls, and it made Todd anxious.

"How many are we looking for Mr Blackfeather?"

"5 prisioners Mr. Todd. You need to relax however, for the moment I don't sense danger", Neteri said calmly. She could sense his anxious feelings and knowing this, she had to relay a sense of calm and confidence to Todd. "We'll be fine Todd, relax ok?", she added.

"Are you a Betazoid or something? I sense danger..and lots of it.." Todd muttered.

They checked several corridors and state rooms.

"Where is the Brig on this thing anyways"? Todd asked.

"I heard that Mr. Todd and yes I am full Betazoid. I also grew up with the Cheyenne Indians as well. Patience is necessary in all security measures. We will get to the brig in due time but right now we are sweeping these decks before our people move out", Neteri said calmly and softly to Todd.

"I guess its lucky for me you have super powers then, Are you a full telepath?" Todd asked.

"Besides a good security officer is always a little paranoid." Todd added,

Continuing to walk and checking as she went she came upon pieces of broken trays and other food containers. "Looks like there was some type of fight here. Broken glass, trays, and phaser fire is also here. There is residue on the bulkhead, but no bodies, no blood, strange no one got hurt", Neteri said looking carefully around the food containers. "Oh and yes Todd I am both full telepath and empathic", she said grinning.

"I heard one of them is some sort of chameleon or something. This doesn't look good. You know something like this could have happened if the inertial dampeners cut out suddenly.." Todd said.

"Yes one is a shapeshifter and very dangerous. If the inertial dampeners did hiccup, yes something like this could have happened, but it doesn't explain the phaser fire on the bulkhead", she said, satisfied that there was no danger, she motioned for Todd to follow.

"Sorry Sir, I didn't see that. Wow looks like one hell of a fire fight. Still no blood. Of course phasers can be set to stun, kill or disintegrate. I smell ozone, do you?" Todd asked.

Todd ran his tricorder over the blast radius of the impact point. "No Sir this wasn't done recently, some time ago. According to these readings maybe up to a year ago. I have to say it I doubt life aboard this ship is boring."

The pair continued to the back areas of the ship and finally ended up in what seemed to be engineering. Todd was no engineer but the warp core was definitely offline.

"Don't you find it odd that we haven't run into any of the crew yet?" Todd asked.

"Yes it is very odd indeed. I am not liking what I am thinking or feeling. Where are the guards and crew? I am no engineer either but judging by the amount of dust here I would say it has been offline for a good while and that is not a good sign in any way shape or form", Neteri said looking carefully around corners and consoles.

This was strange and creepy as Neteri had said. You could feel the emptiness of the room and the Ozone was pungent and strong. Virtually no decent lighting and what there was of it, danced making the shadows move giving it the appearance that someone or something was there hiding.

"It is definitely kinda creepy, maybe the life support system is malfunctioning too. The air smells stale don't you think? Todd asked.

"It's possible....Todd. I have noticed that the air is stagnant. It really stinks badly almost like somebody died!", Neteri said making a face.

Todd stopped and turned to face her.

"Is that what you highly attenuated Betazoid senses tell you, because you are starting to really damage my calm Neteri." Todd replied.

[Brig, USS Blackwell]

The guards on duty came to attention as the pair from the Crazy Horse entered, watchful and alert. In better times, when they weren't transporting prisoners, the cells were stripped and used for additional storage. On this trip, however, five of the ten available cells were occupied; the room was neat and tidy, the only unusual feature being the barred doors that had been added to each of the cells as a backup should the force fields fall all at once.

He sat quietly in his cage. Waiting. Flat eyes, devoid of warmth and life, slid in a slow measured glide down the face of the first individual to enter. A Vulcan who had died writhing in agony met the man's gaze, his features melting like wax down the side of a candle, and reshaping into the sly smirk of a barely dressed Deltan, still bleeding from stab wounds too numerous to count at a glance, while the flat gaze traveled lower, melting and reforming as though sloughing off old skin, into an Orion female who began a trek upward once more, along the man's long legs. Curl of a mind wrapping for a moment, in delicate intrusion, before sliding away once more to end in a caricature of the man's own face reflected back.

"Oh that's original, next time can't you become a dabo girl or something"? Todd said.

He settled back in his bunk, occupying himself by peeling back the man-child's skin on his hands. Skin to muscle. Muscle to bone. Left hand. Right hand. Reverse. Muscle. Skin. The soft strokes of a knife sliding, parting flesh.

"Now, now," the senior guard said to the arriving security officers. "No playing with the prisoners. What can I do for you?"

"We are here to sweep the ship and escort the prisoners to the shuttlecraft", Todd replied.

"Sure thing," the senior guard replied with a tired sigh. "Soon as its cleared through my Captain. "You are welcome to them, one and all."

Looks at Neteri. "We don't actually have permission to escort the prisoners just yet, only sweep the ship. Better contact the XO, Neteri, I would hate to get into even more trouble than we already are." Todd said.

"No Todd we are only sweeping. Besides I won't go against orders", Neteri said.

And just about then, they could hear the sound of a group approaching. "Could be, that's them now?"

"I hope so Todd I hope so", Neteri added.
