~ Sometime after part I ~

Kiara sat cuddled up on Solpec, they had melded and she had shared her memories of what had happened to her. She couldn’t help but feel the emotion that it had stirred inside Solpec, even though as a Vulcan he didn’t show it on the outside. “Thank you for this Solpec, I needed to cry, to get it out of my system.” She leant forward and gave him a tender kiss.

"Yes, you did need to get it out... Do you feel better?" He gently stroked her hair. "Here, take this..." He reached over to his bedside cabinet and took out a small carved pendant. "I made this after the unexpected death of my aunt... I believe the human term is... 'Security blanket'?"

Kiara looked at Solpec in surprise, the pendant was ornate and quite beautiful. “Solpec ... it’s beautiful.” She smiled as she dried her eyes and lifted her hair. “Would you put it on for me?”

The Vulcan gently put the pendant around her neck, then looked at her speculatively. "Its been a long time since you've kissed me, Kiara... It was... Unexpected, and quite pleasant."

Kia smiled. “I was afraid you’d think I was too upfront, too quick.”

As he finished doing up the pendant she let her hair drop down again. “I’ll never take this off.” She suddenly found herself looking into his eyes, before she knew what she was doing her lips met his in a more romantic kiss, her arms gently wrapping around his neck.

Solpec pulled back after a little bit. "Shall we continue more comfortably?" he asked, quiet, low. "Considering this is how things began, once you took six months to wear me down, I wouldn't want to disappoint you."
He lay on the bed, pulling her down to his level.

Kiara was hesitant at first before she responded to his advances. “Solpec you’re my first and only love, the only man I trust to touch me and see my body, such as it is with my scars.” She hovered above him before leaning down and kissing him passionately and with fire. She wanted this, she wanted to feel joy again. She sat up and slowly unzipped her dress, letting it slide off her shoulders.

Solpec gently took her hands in his. "You lead, I will follow... If it is too much, we can stop whenever you feel like it... I want to reiterate, I will not pressure you into anything, Kiara."

Kiara nodded and smiled before guiding his hands to her body and clothing. “I want to feel you touch my body, to feel you kissing me.” She let her dress drop off her lower half leaving her only in her lingerie, which followed shortly afterwards.

~ Sometime later ~

Kiara lay in Solpec’s arms, their love making had been more magical and significant than she had imagined it could be, having let herself go she had totally shared herself with Solpec and in doing so their passion had lead to a sharing of minds only normally initiated during a bonding. “Did we...” she lifted her head and looked at Solpec. “..bond?” She looked at him curiously. “I remember you telling me about it when we were together before.”

"No, we did not... At best..." He stroked her hair with one, large hand as he considered his words. "At best, our mental connection was a pale shadow of a true bond, just as our initial meld was a pale shade of what we just experienced..." He looked at her directly, kindly, but with firmness in his gaze. "You know that Vulcans are not easy to romance--we are logical, stubbornly logical even. Do you want what I have to offer, perhaps, Kiara?"

“What I want ... is you!” Kiara looked deeply into Solpec’s eyes. “I know that Vulcans experience Pon’farr, the blood fever during which time you have to take a mate. One that will remain your mate for your lifetime.” She paused. “I want to be that mate, to be your wife. To be a part of you once and for all, that’s if it’s possible for a non-Vulcan to do that.”

"Very possible, but is it not the custom of most species to 'date' first?" He kissed her gently. "We have been apart for much time, despite our past... We will get there, I have no doubt, Kiara."

Kiara smiled as she looked into Solpec’s eyes. “I very much want us to be together and I’d love to begin dating again.”

Solpec pulled her against him and kissed her. "I would like that very much, as well... I was thinking of getting myself a cup of tea--would you like anything?"

“I’d say you, but a hot chocolate would be lovely as well thank you.” Kia smiled. “But before you go ...” She pulled him back for another passionate kiss.

Solpec let one eyebrow rise. Standing, he studied Kiara's nude profile for a moment. "I will be back shortly--not out of sight or hearing, I promise."

In a few minutes, he was back with the tea and hot chocolate. "I apologize it took me so long--I decided to do things the old-fashioned way, rather than rely on a replicator." He passed her the mug, then put his own tea on the bedside table. "Enjoy." He settled back against the bed's headboard, taking her right hand in his left.

Kia smiled as she sat up a little by Solpec and pulled the cover up over herself. “You don’t find my scars unattractive?” She studied Solpec curiously. “They make me feel ... ugly.”

"They are ugly, but you are not. They are part of you, Kiara, just as my ears, or my overly large brain are part of me." Solpec tried to be a little self-deprecating. He moved his arm around her shoulders. "Your scars are a fact of your current existence--in some ways, they enhance your beauty... Strange, I know."

“They ... they do?” Kiara looked at Solpec curiously. “I’m thinking about having more skin grafts. I want to look normal again.”

The Vulcan kissed her, then gently traced one of the scars with a finger. "It is your choice, Kiara. You always have free will with me, and I will not gainsay you. However, I want you to know that I consider your scars a sign of strength, of inner beauty, and not a disfigurement. I never would, whatever the issue."

“You really think that?” Kia looked at Solpec in surprise. “I only ever looked at my scars and saw them as a symbol of my fears, of bad times I wanted to forget but .,,” She paused and took a deep breath. “I want to look at myself in the mirror, I want to see what you see.” She held out her hand. “Do this with me?”

Solpec pulled her gently to her feet, then rose himself.

Getting up and walking over to the mirror she stood naked in front of it, until now she’d avoided looking at herself full length in the mirror but now she wanted to look. She traced her fingers over the scars on her stomach, before wiping away a few stray tears. “I never saw what you see, I just saw painful memories.”

"Perhaps it is because I am Vulcan, or my training as an anthropologist, or perhaps I have been spending much time around humans, but these,"--he gently traced one scar on her neck, then ran that hand through her hair while still holding her hand with his other one--"are beautiful to me. They show strength, overcoming the bad memories, a sign of ressiliance... I am not a Klingon--they are not a badge of honor to me--and as I said, if you want grafts, that is your choice. However, these are not marks of shame, but of..."

“Strength ... and hope” She looked at Solpec then back at herself in the mirror. She gently traced one of the scars with her fingers. “They always said that these symbols appeared to be something symbolic, that they meant something, but I never bothered to look and see for myself.” She turned to look into Solpec’s eyes. “I ... want, no need to find out what these mean. If anything.”

"I do not mean that they literally mean Strength, Kiara. You could have easily given up, but you did not. That's what they symbolize to me... As for finding out what the symbols mean, was the culprit human or alien?" Solpec was in anthropological mode now.

“He was err ...” She paused. “A hybrid, part El Aurian and part ...” she paused frowning as she remembered ... Vulcan!” She looked at Solpec surprised she hadn’t remembered that until now. He was completely insane.”

"And you are sure my being Vulcan does not cause you distress?" asked Solpec, concerned about her. "The fact he is a hybrid should make things both harder and easier... This may take some time, but I will find out."

“You being Vulcan doesn’t cause me any distress Solpec.” Kia looked at him concernedly. “You didn’t hurt me, you never have and I trust you.” She smiled warmly. “I just haven’t spoken that much about him and I didn’t recall that until now. I would like to know why he did this, not just to me but to all his victims.”

"Of course... We will find out... Is the Starfleet investigation still ongoing?"

“No” She shook her head. “There was a thorough investigation before my hearing after I ... stabbed him.” She paused. “That combined with his own self inflicted wounds ... killed him.” She sighed. “I don’t know why but I got the feeling that he was performing some kind of ritual.”

"Then my anthropology training will be most useful."

Kiara cracked a smile before starting to giggle. "You told a joke! You learned how to make a joke!"

"Of course--did you have any doubt I didn't know how to joke, my dear?"

“Of course not!” Kiara grinned. “I knew you had it tucked away inside that Vulcan exterior of yours.” She looked up into his eyes. “I wish we could stay in each other’s arms like this forever.”

"As do I..." He checked an old-fashioned watch on the nightstand. "The night is young--I have nothing going on for the next day and a half, Kiara."

“Then the night is very young!” Kia smiled as she rolled over and kissed Solpec passionately. “Very young”
