Mission:
S2E1: The Skunil Incident
Location: Moon Orbiting Skunil
Timeline: Day 39 at 1435
ON:
Cash wondered over to the controls. It looked to be a monitoring station of some type. But, over to the left was a small console. It's data screen had a burned out image of the settlement on it. "Such low quality crap. This must be a sensor array control." He whispered. Cash pulled out his engineering tricorder and scanned the sensor control console. It could not be reactivated with help from a minor deity. BUT, it did have sensor logs. They might be able to recover. Even if the logs were corrupted, with help from the Crazy Horse's computer, they might be able to be recovered. Cash used his tricorder and started recording those logs.
On the right was a small communications console, or at least he assumed it was. This was not Federation equipment. But, it was all pretty basic and not hard to figure out. Cash noticed that it was probably for short range communications only. The most range Cash figured it had was probably able to reach a ship in orbit. As well as act as communication hub for planetary use. And that would be the maximum it could do Cash figured. Just then, Cash's tricorder beeped. Cash went over and looked. All the sensor logs were copied. So, Cash scanned the communications console. Cash scanned it. "What the....." Cash said. The comm system had no logs what so ever. "Ok, lets play hard ball." Cash said as he scanned the actual systems operating system. What he found was interesting indeed. Cash was not sure because it was alien equipment. But according to the data readout, it was possible that the comm system was set up to not save any communication information.
Then, Cash happened to notice something. A wire. It was leading down the side of the console. It would have been easy to miss under visual inspection. This wire started going into the console and went down into the floor. Upon scanning the floor he found hidden under the console was small cases of potassium chlorate and ordinary sugar. but, with vials of sulfuric acid that were rigged to pop open in the system was jury rigged to start again.
Cash remembered back to his old days of High School chemistry class. He remembered his teacher, Mr. O'Dwire who taught him some things about sugar. Like how it can be a rudimentary, yet bad ass explosive. 2KClO3(s) —heat—> 2KCl(s) + 3O2(g). Was the chemical formula for the reaction. Cash kinda smiled. Mr. O'Dwire taught him about the chemical properties of sugar. But, O'Dwire's daughter was giving Cash a whole different kind of sugar. Oh, memories.
Cash stood there for a second. He was unsure of what he was thinking about before he started to remember Katie O'Dwire. Oh yeah, in other words. BOOM. Yup, someone rigged it to explode if tampered with. Good thing Cash wasn't trying to get the information mechanically. He would NOT have a good day. Cash gave everything one more good scan. He was convinced that there was nothing else that this hunk of junk equipment could tell him. So, Cash decided to carry on.
Over in an adjacent room there was, what Cash could figure, what was an aid station, a small infirmary. There were some medical supplies still there. But everything was sadly out of date. Cash remembered an old joke, that wasn't really a joke. What is the difference between a medicine and a poison? Most times, the dose.
Cash also found vials of medicine with old style syringes in an old medicine cabinet. Cash picked one up. He noticed a rusty tip on the needle. Then, to his right over There was a small second room. with a single bed in the center. "A surgical or examining room?" He said. Over in the corner was a broken autoclave. There were privacy curtains set up. But they were all pulled back. Cash could see everything. There was a single high powered light aimed right at the bed. Of course it was broken as well. "What a chamber of horrors." He said leaving the room.
Over in the corner of the main room sat a desk with a small computer console. The desk stood among the broken beds. Cash again copied the medical logs. Hopefully it would give us team member identities and what they were treated for. Cash watched the data he collected from the medical computer. He did notice one thing, no Orions were sent to the moon. Again, could be nothing. OR could be significant. Tough call at this point. Then, Cash's com badge beeped.
=/\= Joral to Cash, Doctor Richards and I have gained entry to the shield generator room. We think we've found controls to power, but it very well may sever the power throughout the facility. I didn't want to leave to in the dark without warning." =/\=
"Understood, have you found anything else of interest?" Cash asked.
=/\= Nothing to report right now, Lieutenant =/\= replied J.J. =/\= The Doctor and I will contact the Crazy Horse once we bring the shield down. Then, we are going to head back to the shuttle. We will meet the two of you there.=/\=
"Understood. Have you heard from the Chief? I didn't want us to split up, but he kinda went his own way." Cash asked.
Henri, had only been a few feet away going through a place he would not want to eat in, came out into the main area as the Lieutenant spoke. Arching an eyebrow only slightly, he asked, "Did you need me, Lieutenant?"
"Oh, there you are." Cash said. "Never mind, I found him. We are heading back." Said Cash.
"Where were you? Never mind, I don't want to know." Cash said as the 2 men walked on to meet the other team at the shuttle.
