Personality & Traits
General Overview | If there’s chaos around him, he’s the eye in the storm. He chooses his reactions, doesn’t let others draw reactions out of him. He lives by his own code, has a strong sense of right and wrong, and is loyal to his ship and his crew. He doesn’t like being afraid and will actively work to overcome his fears; he’d be the guy that volunteers to spend the night in a haunted house. Having grown up in a small, involved community, he’s extremely comfortable both within or in front of a group. Always willing to lend a hand when needed. |

Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: ** Grew up bilingual with Cajun being his mother tongue. Fluent in Federation Standard and knows a bit of a few other languages - not enough to be considered fluent, enough to get by. ** Good under pressure. Tends to be the eye of the storm. Whatever he's feeling gets dealt with once the crisis has passed and he's alone. ** Practically fearless. Doesn't like to feel afraid. Will push against something that scares him until it doesn't anymore. ** Works for the general good and is serious about his job. ** Something of an explorer at heart. Really wants to know what's out there. ** Gets along well with others. Weaknesses: ** Not one for tears. The few times he has, he's done so in private ** Can be a bit stubborn, what he likes to think of as determined ** Doesn't open up easily about personal problems Likes: ** Mardi Gras. Best party of the year; he attends whenever he can get leave ** Music - Blues mostly though he does like Zydeco - listening to or playing. Either is good but playing is better. ** Good food - his favorites all stem from his youth and include Gumbo, Beignets (his Maman [mother] made great blue crab beignets), Shrimp Etouffee. Since he can't cook and trips home aren't all that frequent, he'll tell you whatever you make that isn't replicated will be just fine. ** Old movies - back at the Academy, his study group would get together for a movie night as often as they could ** Playing Music, listening to music ... Dislikes: ** Long, pointless meetings. He's more action-oriented so if we're going to talk about something, let there be a point and let's get to it reasonably quickly ** Bar bets. He's not going to bite. If pressed, he'll quote Sky Masterson from Guys and Dolls: "One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet because as sure as you're standing here, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider." ** People who lie especially people who lie when there's no need and bullies ... definitely bullies ** Not being there when he's needed |
|
Languages Spoken | French, Cajun English, Federation Standard | |
Hobbies & Interests | ** Music - Plays guitar and piano but prefers the guitar ** Reading - Alot of non-fiction but does read classical fiction as well ** Likes sports with a competitive edge (La Crosse is his favorite) ** Kickboxing (been studying since he was 6) ** Anything to do with music - loves to play |
Personal History | Henri was born in a small town in Louisiana where his parents opened a restaurant/road house that rapidly became a regular hangout for townsfolk. It was in the rooms over the restaurant that Henri, along with his brothers and sisters, grew up. He bused and waited tables after school; while he never developed an interest in cooking (that was his mother's passion), he became very interested in music. He learned the piano and guitar and after hours, would sit in with the house band. He loved those years, learning the stories of the famous musicians who played throughout Louisiana. Great food and everyone, family and friends, crowded around a long table, and music. Always music. To him, there was no better place to live than Keachi in DeSoto Parish. After his older brother Lucien was victimized by bullies while Henri had to stand by helpless to intervene, his father decided that his children needed to know how to protect themselves. His father knew someone and got all six of his children enrolled in classes. Henri was six at the time and while the others eventually dropped out, he continued. That feeling of having to stand helplessly by was burned into his brain; he never wanted to feel that way again. His parents assumed that he would become a musician, in fact, his entire family did as did he for awhile. He loved music, loved New Orleans, but somehow, something was missing. It was a great life but it didn't satisfy his need to explore, to be there when someone was in need. When a Starfleet recruiter showed up at his school, Henri listened. It wasn't long before he knew what he wanted to do. |
