Planning for parties

Mission: S2E2: The Auction House
Location: The Blue Parrot- Deck 11
Timeline: Day 40 at 1530

"And I think that'l do it." Jeysa mumbled to herself as she adjusted a sign in the lounge for the dozenth time, the blue parrot was set up quite well but it needed a few personal touches from its new manager. She'd already adjusted some of the tables, altering the layout a little more efficiently and adding another couple of them nearer the window. The view was quite impressive looking out down the swept down aft hull of the ship from nearly above the aft shuttle bay, she guessed you could easily see the shuttles coming in and out.

Her mumbling and minor stuff shifting was ended when the doors opened, she turned towards what was her first customer of the afternoon.

Siobhan entered the lounge noticing changes, mostly subtle ones, like straightening the parrot, and she had to admit it looked better. She smiled toward the woman that turned to her. Siobhan didn't see her earlier. Walking confidently but elegantly she approached her, since there was no one else around.
"Hi, I don't think we met before. Siobhan Richards, counselor." She introduced herself offering her hand.

"Are you sure?" Jeysa asked as she took Siobhan's hand, the woman seemed familiar. "I'm sure we met on the Fair Winds? I could be mistaken but I'm usually good with faces."

"I am too, especially with as pretty as yours. I guess we likely to just missed each other." Siobhan said. "So you came on the Fair Winds? How do you like on the Crazy Horse so far?"

"Can't complain," Jeysa slowly moved to behind the bar as she spoke. "I've only met a handul of the crew so far, lots of names and faces to learn."

Siobhan nodded listening to Jeysa.
"How should I call you, Mrs....?" She asked with her lips curling in a smile. The woman seemed to be so busy she forgot to introduce herself and Siobhan was not going to pass on that.

"Jeysa Zeror, and it's Miss." Jeysa replied smiling slightly, "Can I get you anything while you're here Miss Richards?"

"Sure. Though I let you surprise me." Siobhan replied. It seemed that Jeysa focused for a moment on her. "Aren't you overworking yourself? You know, you don't have to impress everyone on day one."

"Oh this is nothing, you're my first customer of the day. that'l no doubt change in about 30 minutes when Alpha shift comes off duty." Jeysa pulled a tall glass out from under the bar followed by a wine bottle from a nearby chiller, she poured a reasonable amount into the glass and presented it to Siobhan.

Siobhan took the glass and tasted it. It was a wine, and a good one. She was guessing a Bajoran. "Mmm... excellent choice. Miss Jeysa." She took another sip and licked her lips before changing the subject. "So, if I would want to have a party... or other kind of event for the crew. How would one need to organize it? Where to start?"

Jeysa smiled glad Siobhan liked her selection, she seemed like a sweet wine kind of person to her. "You'd probably need to clear it with the Captain or Xo, but seeing as you're a counsellor I reckon that should be easy enough. After that you should come and see me and we can figure out what you want to do and how we can accomplish it."

"I see." Siobhan leaned forward. "To be honest, this is an idea at this point. For something later. We are out there on our own and it is unlikely we will get a proper shoreleave anytime soon. So I thought we need to do with what we have. A small celebration... not sure yet what to celebrate. But you know, a big even enough to have the crew talking about it for few days and to change dynamics from the regular day-to-day operations."

"Do you have anything in mind yet," Jeysa asked resting her hands on the bar. "Or are you just theorising right now?"

"Theorizing." Siobhan said with a smile. "Nothing particular in mind yet. It is more like something for the future."

"Well we can manage maybe a hundred people in here at a time after moving a few of the tables around. The raised bit over there," She motioned with her hand. "is suitable for a small band or something like that, I don't know if we have anyone on the ship who can play instruments though."

"If not, we can always have some holos, Elvis Presley or something." Siobhan thought aloud looking toward motioned stage. "Hundred people... That's roughly third of the crew. So it would have to be perhaps a weekend event to ensure everyone will have fair chance to participate? What do you think?"

"Elvis Presley? Jeysa asked not knowing the name.

Siobhan waved her hand dismissively that this wasn't really important as she took a sip of the wine.
"But as we are theorizing..." She tapped her lower lip with right index finger. "There is actually an idea we could use to do an event. The captain was promoted recently. Do think we could stretch it over a weekend period?"

"I doubt it, I've seen on some ships that crew in the lower decks haven't even met their Captain, never mind be excited when they get promoted. Captain D'Anvers might want a more private celebration but I think it'd be hard to get it into a whole crew celebration." Jeysa shook her head slightly as she spoke.

Siobhan thought for a moment.
"Then let's do an auction. For an evening with the captain. Tasteful evening." She giggled. "What do you think?"

Jeysa laughed, "I love it, though I doubt he'd ever agree to it. Besides this is a starfleet ship, you folks don't get paid. What would you bid with?"

"That is a very good question." Siobhan replied leaning forward. "So, what would you feel would be worth to put it in? No money doesn't mean you can't barter?"

Jeysa nodded slightly, batering was always an option. "I know a lot of fleeters have something stashed away somewhere. A bottle of something good, trinkets and suchlike. Maybe that would work? you wouldn't be able to do a live auction like that though. Who can say a bottle of 2340 bloodwine is less or more valuable than a trinket they picked up on Coridan."

"My initial thought was to have it done by the Captain since we will be auctioning him." Siobhan winked at Jeysa. "Of course, I need to discuss that with the Captain as this likely would be charity deposit, to avoid any hints of impropriety."

"That would probably be the best idea." Jeysa laughed slightly. "I still don't think he'll go for it, being.... 'pimped out' I think is the human phrase, to one of the crew for whatever they want to do with him.."

"Oh, leave that to me." Siobhan smiled. "You start thinking how to organize that. I'll give you an update after I talk with the captain." She reached out to Jeysa to shake her hand. "Deal?"

"Deal, good look with the Captain." Jeysa took Siobhans hand.
