Athegan Station wasn't much to look it and frankly Noah wasn't entirely sure what he was doing there. The young officer was sitting in one of the station's passenger lounges. The name escaped him, was it the Golden Plough or the Silver Zephyr? It didn't really matter. As he propped his feet up his only annoyance was the old no smoking sign staring him in the face. He couldn't even enjoy a cigar. Avoir du front tout le tour de la tête (they have some nerve). Oh well, maybe he would have an assignment soon. He assumed that's why he was there after all.
The young man picked up a book his mother had given him. He wasn't sure what she was trying to tell him with it. Stendahl's The Red And The Black. It was from the time after Napoleon Bonaparte's exile to Corsica. The main character, a young man, Julien could not find himself a place in the world. The only way he could distinguish himself in this period was to join the red, the military or the black, the church. Noah leaned back in the couch, maybe she thought he was indecisive about his place in the world, although unlike Julien, he had already chosen the red. Just like his mother to try and convince him to choose a different path.
Noah stood up and headed for the door. He was going through the motions at this point, trying not to go stir crazy. The station wasn't busy by starbase standards and the last place he wanted to end up was at some of the station bars, which seemed rather tough. Unlike some officers he knew, bar fights weren't his fortay… If he could help it anyway.
The doors to his small cabin aboard station was just that, small. He nearly tripped over his chest and two duffle bags. Piled on the floor. There wasn't much to look at out the porthole sized window either. Oh well, it was a paid vacation. Noah set the French novel down onto the end table. He sat down on the bed and removed boots. He rubbed his left foot. He needed to remember to get insoles for these things. He laid down and closed his eyes...

Mmm, speak French to me ;) Interesting personal log. I enjoyed getting to know your character and look forward to actually interacting with them in the near future.

Merci beaucoup! I only actually know a bit of French. I'm fluent in German though. I figured this would be a different character ;).
I look forward to as well. I figured I'd write a few of these while waiting to be picked up.
