"Believe you can and your halfway there."

ON:
Xander Cash had a lot on his plate. He was glad the crew he had come in with was starting to blend in with the rest of the crew. But Xander was finding the burdens of his new office somewhat of a challenge. He liked his new Asst Chief Engineer. But was not sure what to make of him. He was sure he could be trusted though. And that was good enough for now. And then, there was the ship's Captain....I mean, Xander let the man down coming in. Xander knew he had a big job to do in gaining his trust. I guess Joseph Fort Newton was right when he said "Men build too many walls and not enough bridges." Xander thought as he laid in bed, unable to sleep.
He had tried many different things. Warm milk, he was hoping that the combination of melatonin and triptiphan would make him a happy pilgrim to Slumberland. When that failed to produce results, Xander thought other methods were needed to be explored. He tried lowering the temperature in his quarters. He realized this was kind of pointless when he found himself snuggled in a blanket because he was slightly chilly. He even tried to count sheep. This failed because the sheep Xander used were from the holographic emitters in his room. After a few minutes, it started to smell like a pasture full of sheep. MMMMMM can you say sheep manure?
Xander decided that sleep was going to deprive him of it's loving embrace. So, an intervention was needed. Xander got out of bed, and went to the replicator. He ordered a large glass of warm milk 15 degrees Celsius. And then, there it was. Xander took a sip. "Meletonin and Triptiphan my ass." He said as he walked over to his desk. He sat there, in his jammies and though about what to do next. Then, he turned his computer screen so he could see it.
"Computer, display the latest Starfleet Engineering journals." He ordered. The Computer beeped and chirped. Then, the directory appeared on the screen. It mattered not which he was going to choose. With some luck, he was not going to last long reading it. Xander's hope was that he would be so board, his mind was going to surrender. And Xander would take no prisoners in this battle. Xander looked over his choices.
"Computer, I want you to choose....No. I want you to put up the journal read the absolute least." Xander figured that IF the most boring journal was not going to work, then he was in REAL trouble. The computer beeped and chirped again. within a second the text appeared on his screen. "The Properties and Future Characteristics of Holographic Technology Applications. by Dr Lewis Zimmerman. " He read aloud. "Ding Ding Ding....We have a WINNER" He said sarcastically. "I want to be asleep by page 3." He added taking another swig of milk.
Xander started reading the journal. To his surprise, he lasted longer then page 3. a lot longer. Xander actually devoured the journal. To be honest, it was only about 150 pages. But it turned out to be an interesting read. Xander was totally captivated. When he was done, the journal seemed to have a completely opposite effect. Xander's mind was going 100 miles a millisecond. He then looked at the computer on his desk.
"Computer, put a schematic up of all the power and propulsion systems of the Crazy Horse on this station please." Again, the computer chirped and beeped. and with that, there was the info Xander asked for. "That is completely possible." Xander said. "I'll be a son of a......Yes, That will work!!!!" He said with excitement. "I'm going to make this work."
