| Personal History | Born in early 2364, Melis benefited from his species's increased contact with the Federation. As his mother was part of the Benzite diplomatic corps, the young Melis came into contact with various aliens, many of them Federation members. This, in addition to the Dominion War, had a significant impact on him. He assisted the Benzite resistance movement when Benzar was captured by the Dominion, though this was short--lived, as the Romulans liberated the planet. Entering Starfleet Academy in 2382, Melis excelled in Security. Upon graduation in 2386, he was posted to the Nebula-class USS Rothschild, and was promoted to Lieutenant (J.G.) in 2391. He learned that a friend of his from the Academy, Lae'Or Tahlin, was transferring to the USS Crazy Horse in 2394, and he decided to try his luck at being posted there as well. |
